The service provider has to apply professional ethics & discipline. For example, no vehicle can be tracked without its owners knowledge. The defense authority guidelines has to follow strictly. Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has given the license to import GPS/GSM devices under certain conditions. Further, employer can't track their employee's private life. Children can't be tracked without their parents knowledge & so on.
Vehicle tracking system are electronic devices installed in vehicles to enable vehicle owners or another approved party to track those vehicles. Most modern vehicle tracking system now use GPS devices to identify the accurate location of the vehicle, and combine a communication component or satellite transmitters to communicate the vehicle's location to a remote user. Vehicle related information can be viewed on electronic maps. Vehicle tracking system can be used to track cars or trucks, cargo units, Marine vessels, or airplanes within a given area.
What is Fleet Management
Fleet management systems are advanced versions of vehicle tracking systems that utilize past and present records of the vehicles movements to make the best use of a fleet of vehicles. Further it can monitor the fuel cap and doors,accidents,inside temperature, removal of battery,unauthorized driving,etc.If the owner pre-determine the boundary within which the vehicle should operate (go-fenced) the system gives an alarm once the vehicle cross the fencing boundary.Once the panic button is pressed the operation center can monitor the movement of the vehicle at every four seconds, and if there is a theft it can be informed to the police and rescue teams .Operation center can instruct to follow the vehicle,immobilize it at a given location and arrest the thives.
